This morning, pizza meets music in a first-of-its-kind collaboration. For more on this iconic Filipino inspired Detroit style pie, KRON4 News Anchor Stephanie Lin spoke with Bay Area rap star P-Lo and March Schechter, founder and CEO of Square Pie Guys.

Square Pie Guys opens its sixth location in Walnut Creek on January 11 and launches its first-ever artist collaboration: a Filipino-inspired Detroit-style pizza created with Bay Area rapper P-Lo. The pizza features vodka sauce, longanisa, Italian sausage, and hot honey bomba, then finished with spicy ranch.

Square Pie Guys, the local Detroit-style pizza chain known for its crispy edged-pies, is gearing up to open its sixth Bay Area location in Walnut Creek on Jan. 11.

The Square Pie Guys pizza empire has expanded to Walnut Creek. You’ll get the same Detroit-style bricks you know and love, topped with everything from vodka sauce and pepperoni to buffalo chicken.

Cult-favorite pizza chain Square Pie Guys has teamed up with a Bay Area rapper for a limited edition culinary creation. 

San Francisco’s dining scene was elevated in 2025 by a wave of exciting restaurant openings.

The restaurant timed its newest opening to a collaboration with local Filipino-American rapper P-Lo, of the HBK Gang, who himself has collaborated with the likes of E-40 and Saweetie. A limited time, Filipino-inspired pizza will be served at all its locations: a vodka sauce pie with longanisa, Italian sausage and hot-honey bomba, finished with spicy ranch and basil. 

Popular Detroit-style pizza outfit Square Pie Guys is debuting its first Contra Costa County location this Sunday, January 11, in Walnut Creek. Located at the bottom of the Waymark apartment complex by the Walnut Creek BART station, the San Francisco–based chain’s sixth location will offer a full lineup of salads, wings, sides, and signature crispy cheddar-cheese-crusted square pizzas. It will also include a new pie inspired by an artist collaboration with P-Lo. Inspired by the Bay Area rapper’s Filipino upbringing and heritage, the P-Lo Pie is topped with rich vodka sauce, red onions, longanisa and Italian sausage, and hot honey bomba, before being finished with spicy ranch and fresh basil. A portion of the proceeds from each pie sold will support nonprofit United Playaz, dedicated to youth empowerment, mentorship, and violence prevention in the Bay Area.

I love trying all the collaborative Detroit-style pizzas at Square Pie Guys, which all benefit charitable causes.

The Square Pie Guys continues on with its expansion throughout the Bay Area, this time opening its latest location in Walnut Creek on Sunday, January 11.

Last week, Square Pie Guys popped up at its first location outside of SF and Oakland, in Campbell.

Square Pie Guys opened Aug. 5 in downtown Campbell with a ribbon cutting and free pizza for the first 100 customers, with the 65th customer winning free pizza for a year.

Square Pie Guys is located at 510 E. Campbell Ave. The local Detroit-style local pizza chain started in the Mission District in San Francisco. Campbell is the chain’s fourth location and first in the South Bay.

Palo Alto, Walnut Creek are next in line to get expansion locations

Square Pie Guys has just opened a fourth location in Campbell, at 501 East Campbell Avenue. The new location is going to feature a smashburger that was briefly served at the Mission location of Square Pie Guys, and owner Marc Schechter is also promising some "fun sandwiches" like those being served at other location, on focaccia-like bread made from pizza dough!
